Strengthening Homefires Cultural Support Program

Program Vision

Strengthening Homefires Cultural Support Program is an early intervention and prevention program to support our participants to provide a strength-based approach to enhance families’ capacities by addressing understanding, strength, needs and goal settings.

We plan multiple events throughout the year, including but not limited to:

- Kokum’s Bannock and Tea – a 6 week traditional parenting program focusing on intergenerational healing and knowledge-sharing and child development.

- You Make a Difference – a 6 week caregiver empowerment program with a focus on healthy communication, healing intergenerational trauma and addressing grief and loss through an Indigenous perspective.

- Indigenous People’s Day – in partnership with the County of Leduc at Rundle’s Mission is a day filled with teachings, crafting and exploring with students from throughout Leduc County.

- Ribbon Skirt Workshops – providing a space for individuals and families to learn about ribbon skirts, why we wear them, and how to sew them.

- Youth Craft Nights – hosted every second month with the Boys and Girls Club of Leduc, we provide a space for youth aged 12-18 to have fun and learn about the 7 teachings, traditional medicines and crafts.
